Google Adwords Dynamic Keyword Insertion

The heart of Google Adwords is the Text Ad.

The heart of the Text Ad is the Headline.

Direct mail writers have know this for years. The single most important part of any advertisement is the headline. It’s the same in Google Adwords.

So how do you make your ad standout?
How about putting the searcher’s keyword in the headline? How much more relevant can you get? And, as we all know, matching keywords are displayed as bold in Google Adwords, drawing even more attention to the headline.

That’s what dynamic keyword insertion is all about. Using keyword insertion, you can place the search query in the headline.

The format for dynamic keyword insertion is as follows:

Buy {Keyword:Running Shoes}
From the #1 shoe store on the web.
Satisfaction Guaranteed!
www.runningshoes.com

Inside the {} brackets, ‘ Keyword:’ tells google to insert whatever the search query is. If the search query won’t fit in the space allotted, then google will insert the second part, ‘Running Shoes’.

If the searcher types in blue sneakers, the Ad would show as follows:

Buy Blue Sneakers
From the #1 shoe store on the web.
Satisfaction Guaranteed!
www.runningshoes.com

If the query was too long, like ‘crepe sole blue sneakers’, then the second part would come into play and the Ad would show as follows:

Buy Running Shoes
FromĀ  the #1 shoe store on the web.
Satisfaction Guaranteed!
www.runningshoes.com

Using Dynamic Keyword insertion is a trick that all the big players use, as they may have thousands or millions of keywords, and writing unique ads for each group of keywords would just be too difficult.

You can use the same trick to increase CTR and conversion rates in your Adwords Campaigns. Good luck.
