Typeface and Background Color

There are almost an infiite number of background colors to choose from, and quite a few type faces, as well. The following type faces are default in Windows/IE. I have placed these fonts, in black, on different background colors to illustrate readability. As you can see, on some colors, readability is difficult. What you want, ideally, is very high contrast between type and background. I usually recommend black Verdana or Arial typeface on white background. I think you can see why.
